Benoit Nihant Ginza
A moment to unwind in the city.
The Belgian boutique Benoit Nihant Ginza pairs single-origin chocolate parfaits and tarts in its basement salon with tablets and cookie tins on the ground floor.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
As the Japanese flagship for Belgian chocolatier Benoit Nihant, the Ginza boutique houses a gift shop on the 1st floor filled with bonbons and baked confectionery, alongside a subterranean salon on the 1th basement floor. The salon's centerpiece is a chocolate parfait with a striking sculptural silhouette, designed to be broken into through a delicate chocolate sphere. Inside, ice cream crafted from Honduran Mayan Red cacao sits alongside cacao pulp jelly, sorbet, caramel chocolate mousse, and crisp feuilletine, revealing notes that shift smoothly from fruity acidity to toasted bitterness.
Drinks are chosen with the help of aroma samples for loose tea leaves and coffee beans before ordering. Teas such as organic African nectar or jasmine arrive in teapots, offering clear, bright aromas that reset the palate between bites of rich chocolate. Fresh pastries are equally focused on cacao's profile: the Tarte au Chocolat bakes a whole bonbon inside a dense ganache shell, the Mousse au Chocolat au Lait pairs mellow milk chocolate with almond praline, and the house tiramisu balances bittersweet espresso against whipped mascarpone.
The ground-floor boutique presents single-origin and varietal chocolate tablets alongside packaged baked goods. A frequent favorite is the Cookie Box Noir, packed in a black tin with items such as Chocolat Classique finished with Guerande salt, and macadamia-studded chocolate chip biscuits. It provides a convenient stop to select take-home bars or gifts after finishing dessert in the basement cafe.
